Peer Reviewers Process

Peer Review Process Jurnal As-Sunni

Every manuscript submitted to Jurnal As-Sunni undergoes a  double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential. Each article is evaluated by  at least two independent reviewers  with relevant expertise. Only manuscripts that successfully pass this review stage will be published online.

Before entering the review stage, all submissions are subject to an initial editorial assessment and plagiarism screening to ensure academic integrity and alignment with the journal’s standards.

Plagiarism Screening

To maintain originality and ethical scholarship, the editorial team of Jurnal As-Sunni conducts plagiarism checks using:

  1. Manual examination (offline and online academic sources)
  2. Plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin

Screening covers the title, abstract, and full manuscript text. Manuscripts showing clear evidence of serious plagiarism will be rejected outright. If minor similarity or redundancy is identified, authors may be contacted for clarification or revision before the review process continues.

Stages of the Review Process

1. Submission Received

The editor receives the manuscript through the journal system.

2. Initial Editorial Evaluation

The editor reviews the manuscript to ensure it matches the journal’s focus and scope, follows author guidelines, and includes all required supplementary materials. Manuscripts that do not meet       these basic criteria may be declined at this stage.

3. Plagiarism Check

The manuscript undergoes similarity screening. Submissions with major plagiarism issues are rejected. Minor issues may be returned to authors for correction.

4. Peer Review Assignment

Suitable manuscripts are sent to at least two reviewers using the double-blind review system.

5. Reviewer Assessment

Reviewers provide evaluation reports and may include annotated suggestions or revised files.

6. Editorial Decision

Based on reviewers’ feedback, the editor makes one of the following decisions:

       a. Accepted

       b. Minor Revision

       c. Major Revision

       d. Rejected

 7. Author Notification

The decision and reviewer comments are communicated to the author.

Revision Policy

If revisions are requested, authors are expected to submit the revised manuscript promptly. Manuscripts returned later than two months  after the decision date may be treated as new submissions and re-enter the review process from the beginning.
